America, our great nation, is a melting pot of different nationalities, cultures and viewpoints. But sometimes our religious beliefs could set us apart. Despite having different religious backgrounds, Americans still wholeheartedly unite every July 4th to celebrate the birth of this great nation.

Islam teaches that loving one's country of residence and being obedient to its ruler is a part of faith (Quran 4:60). The same was also stressed by the prophet Muhammad.

Unfortunately, the recent tragic events around the world have given rise to Islamophobia, and Americans are suspicious that Muslims in U.S. are not loyal to America.

As a young member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, I must reiterate that we are loyal as taught by our faith. This great nation not only has protected its citizens' religious freedom but also provided them with a sense of peace and security.

This Independence Day, we American Muslims stand tall and are proud to participate in festivities like marching in the parade, watching the fireworks, enjoying barbecue with friends and families and displaying our true affections for this great country. May God bless America.
