The cyber crime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Karachi has arrested a citizen journalist whome they have accused of misusing his social media standing "to propagate a negative agenda."

Abdul Karim Dahri, the suspect, was arrested from Nawabshah yesterday and a case has been filed against him by the FIA, it was reported by a Pakistani semi-news website.

“The accused recently posted a fake post on Facebook regarding donkey meat being used in Sindhi pulao in Nawabshah,” said an investigating officer, according to the pro-security agencies website, ProPakistan.pk.

Sindhi pulao is a popular rice dish in Sourhern Pakistan and the use of donkey meat has been reported previously in southern port city of Karachi by Pakistani legitimate news outlets.

The website claimed that the suspect, Abdul Karim, who is a teacher by profession, fakes his standing in social media "as a self-proclaimed journalist."

"He has reportedly using [sic] his journalistic influence to blackmail people and get money from them," the website had claimed.

Pro-Pakistani reported that the complainant, owner of a local restaurant, contacted the FIA in Karachi that Abdul Karim blackmailed him by claiming that the restaurant was selling donkey meat.

Abdul Karim has reportedly used abusive language against the restaurant and FIA officers used their technical expertise to trace the alleged culprit and detain him, Pro-Pakistan had further reported.
