The recent Tulsa murders of Khalid Jabara and Imam Maulama Akonjee and his assistant reflect the distorted ideology and cowardice of Daesh. As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, I condemn any ideology or cowardice that takes innocent lives.

I also condemn the ideology and cowardice of politicians and media when they use divisive language and rhetoric.

Instead of calling for bans on individuals of entire religions and labeling whole groups, those in positions of influence should call for peace and understanding.

Irresponsible politicians and media members further fuel the environment of bigotry and racism in this nation.

Irresponsible and hateful rhetoric paints a one-dimensional view in the minds of many Americans.

The grossly disproportionate coverage of Muslims in a negative light is leading to Western radicalization and a spike in hate crimes and discrimination against Muslims.

Radicalization is universal. It is an illness that rationalizes fear.

It is not specific to a certain religion, race, country or creed.

It is specific to mankind and can only be remedied by absolute justice.
