The Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, Alhaji Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, has cautioned members of the Ahmadiyya Youth Organisation, Ghana, not to allow themselves to be used by self-seeking politicians to perpetrate violence in the run-up to the December 7, 2016 general election.

Alhaji Maulvi Salih noted that some politicians had already acquired their mansions and whatever wealth one could think of “but it is you who are yet to build the future, and you have a very long rope ahead of you.”

“If you allow these (politicians) to use you as tools to achieve their selfish interests, then you only lose everything including your pride to become the future leaders of the country. You have a colossal duty to preserve the Islamic religion in particular and mankind in general,’’ the head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission insisted.

37th annual rally/theme

The Ameer gave the caution when he addressed the 37th annual National Rally (Ijtemaa) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation (Majlis Khuddam-ul Ahmadiyya)-Ghana in Takoradi in the Western Region.

The theme for the three-day meeting, which was attended by about 3,300 delegates from across the country, was: “Tolerance—An Indispensable Tool for Peaceful Co-Existence.”

The annual rally, which is attended by male members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana aged seven to 40, is expected to uplift the participants spiritually, morally and physically and also to remind them of the need to be tolerant to achieve peaceful co-existence for national development.

Dark Islamic picture

“You are the future leaders of the country and the most vulnerable species that can be used for violence and unrest, but do not harken to their calls for doom, recklessness and destruction. If you refuse to listen to the calls for radicalism, then you will be preparing a solid foundation for your future,’’ Alhaji Maulvi Salih observed.

Alhaji Maulvi Salih noted that the time had come for Muslim youth to salvage the image of the Islamic religion which had now been painted black in the eyes of some people due to the negative attitudes of some Muslim groups.
