"Peace strategies from diverse religions and traditions in today’s world" offered at Jain center  Buena Park

Imam Mohammed Zafarullah, regional missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's southwest region, along with three members from the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, California, attended a Peace symposium sponsored by The Jain Center of Southern California, Buena Park, CA.
At the program -- which was attended by over 200 guests, was entitled “Peace Strategies from Diverse Religions and Traditions in Today’s World” -- Imam Zafarullah delivered the keynote address entitled “Islam and Peace.”

The event was commemorating the 147th year since the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.

In his address Imam Zafarullah explained that the very name of Islam connotes Peace in contrasts to what the Media has been reporting for the last several years. He explained that Islam is given a bad name with an ugly and awful image of extremism whether knowingly or unwittingly, by not only the media but by some Muslim groups and organizations, who have personal vested interests.

Imam explained that peace generally connotes different meaning and understanding for individuals such as food in abundance for the hungry, stable relationship at home for families with challenges, and for the politician, a stable government where the citizens are happy.

Imam Zafarullah emphasized that the stand of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, of which he is a member, is that the teaching of the Holy Qur’an promotes peace. He declares, “We have to spread the true message of peace to every corner of the world. If we were to examine the practice of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, (peace be on him) to whom the teachings of the Holy Qur’an were revealed we will see absolutely no support in favor of any kind of cruelty, violence or extremism”.

Imam further said that some important clarification and direction to these facts have been provided to us by the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, who claimed that he was the Imam Mehdi and Promised Messiah with guidance directly from God as to the pristine teachings of Islam.

As the event was attended by several faith leaders and audience from Christianity, Islam, Jainism, Hinduism, Judaism, Zoroastrianism and Buddhism, Imam Zafarullah commended the organizers and related that meetings of this kind was first held in 1894 under the auspices of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, where he organized a symposium of different faith leaders sharing the same stage with each other, as they presented the teachings of their own faith.

Imam Mohammed Zafarullah concluded his address extolling the slogan of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community which is: Love for all, hatred for none.

Ahmadiyya members handed out Pathway to Peace and Muslims for life flyers to the audience and speakers..
