A £500 donation was awarded to Harrow’s day care centre to help organisers support more people across the borough.

Members of the Greenford and Harrow branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association presented the cheque to Harrow’s Welldon Activity Group.

Harrow Mayor Cllr Rekha Shah and borough councillors also attended the event.

The Welldon Activity Group in Trinity Church, Hindes Road, is a day care centre, to help adults who are disadvantaged through emotional, physical or learning disabilities.

They offer a safe environment that respects their rights, needs and dignity.

Charity director Brian Whitehead, who was awarded for Supporting Vulnerable People during last year’s Harrow’s Heroes awards ceremony, wrote a letter of thanks to association.

In his letter, Mr Whitehead said: “It was a lovely day and I very much appreciated the support from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

"Please ensure that your Chairman and all your community are made aware of how much we appreciated the support and encouragement you gave us.

“The donation will go directly to enhancing our computer facilities together with our Arts and Crafts and music activities.”

Visit the website for more information on the centre.
