The Chief of Akyem Achiase Dasebre Gyenin Kantan II has described the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community as peace loving and disciplined Muslims who do not subscribe to violence.
Dasebre Gyenin Kantan II who is also the acting Nifahene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area gave the commendation during the Concluding Session of the 18th Annual Rally of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya (Ahmadiyya Muslim Male Youth Organization) in the Eastern Region on July 2, 2017 at Akyem Achiase.
Describing himself as an “Associate Ahmadi”, Dasebre Gyenin revealed that he has spent about 26 years of his life teaching in T.I Ahmadiyya Schools in the country. He recounted his early days at the T.I Ahmadiyya JHS at Otuam in the Central Region where he started teaching. From there he spent three years at T.I Ahmadiyya JHS at Agona Swedru also in the Central Region of Ghana from where he proceeded to the university.
After obtaining his degree, he opted to teach at T.I Ahmadiyya JHS at Adansi Fomena in the Ashanti Region where he retired in 2016 after 17 years of service to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission and mother Ghana.
He expressed delight that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at has made enormous contribution to nation building and national development by establishing many educational institutions and health facilities in the country which are serving the needs of Ghanaians and humanity at large.
Remarking on the theme of the rally “The True Meaning of Jihad”, Dasebre Gyenin Kantan said that instead of following the misinterpreted meanings of Jihad which is creating mayhem and bloodshed, he has learnt that “Jihad” means to be self-disciplined to control oneself from doing evil and would stick to that meaning.
Dasebre Gyenin Kantan II was grateful to the Majlis for bringing the regional rally to Akyem Achiase. He was hopeful that very soon a delegation would visit him to inform him of its intension of acquiring a land to build a mosque, a cluster of schools and a hospital in Akyem Achiase. He made a cash donation of GHC200.00 to support the rally.
After his speech, the Sadr (National President) of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Ghana, Mr. Nasir Ahmed Bonsu made a presentation on behalf of members of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, Eastern Region to show appreciation to Dasebre Gyenin for honouring the invitation.
