India: Independence day celebrated in Qadian


Qadian is best known as the birthplace of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Islamic movement. It had served as the sole centre of the Ahmadiyya movement until the Partition of India in 1947.

Qadian: 70th Independence Day was celebrated here in Qadian, the birthplace of the worldwide Muslim Jama'at, with full zeal and prayers.

Ahmadiyya school of theology and languages, Jamia Ahmadiyya, Nusrat Girls School and Taleem-ul Islam Senior Secondary School organized Independence Day programs in their institutional compounds.

At an activity held at the Ahmadiyya Ground, student sang the National Anthem and many sports activities were also held.

Qadian is situated in Gurdaspur District, north-east of Amritsar, located some 12 milesvnorth-east of Batala city in the state of Punjab, India.
