Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at-The Gambia on 5 December 2017 donated a cash amount of D6, 000 to the Organisation for Social Development and Inclusion for Visually Impaired (OSDIVI) as its contribution toward the organization’s preparation to commemorate World Disability Day.
OSDIVI will mark the day on Saturday 9 December 2017, beginning with a march pass from Bakoteh Mall to Kanifing.
Organisation for Social Development and Inclusion for Visually Impaired (OSDIVI) is a young disabled persons’ organisation established in 2011 in order to realize the UN strategy to promote disability issues as human rights issues and the need to advance the cause of persons with disabilities to meet their full potentials to develop themselves, families and society as dignified world citizens.
Speaking at the presentation held at the mission in Tallinding, Baba F. Trawally, Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at-The Gambia, said Allah created human beings equally and therefore they should accept whatever condition they found themselves in and encourage themselves to do their best with the support of others.
He noted that people are contributing in diverse ways in national development.
He assured the organisation of the Jama’at continuous support, saying: “we are with you and will also be with you”.
He remarked that all people should be treated equally, fairly and justly, adding that with these, there would be world peace.

In receiving the cash, Yankuba Amadu Faal Sonko, Founder of OSDIVI, said the donation would help them prepare better for the event.
He urged others to emulate the example of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at-The Gambia as it was the duty of every person to support them because disability is not a market commodity and could happen to anyone.
He also called on the public to open their doors to them in order for them to be able to achieve their vision.
He thanked the Jama’at for the gesture, saying it made them proud and also being recognised as part of society.
