On Thursday, starting at 6pm, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Association, at the University of Windsor, has scheduled a, “very special and historic event,” at the CAW Student Centre Auditorium. The featured speaker is best-selling author and lawyer, Qasim Rashid, who will take on the task of demystifying Islamic Law and Sharia Law.
Professor Julie MacFarlane, recognized by Canadian Lawyer Magazine as one of the nation’s most influential lawyers, will MC the free event which is also open to the public.
The organizers are heralding the event as a, “significant learning opportunity with a renowned speaker who is aware of issues around the politicization of the term ‘Sharia,’ Islamophobia and the context in which Muslims live in our society.”
A question and answer session will follow Rashid’s speech and there will be food served at the event.
Seats are very limited and are being allotted on a first-come basis. Those interested in attending should RSVP.
