Gambia: Kanfenda Ahmadiyya Muslim junior school holds graduation


Omar N.R Sonko, secretary of Nusrat Jehan Education said the graduation is a remarkable achievement and is a day that should be remembered not only by the out-going students but also by students and teachers that would continue to be part of the school.

Kanfenda Ahmadiyya Muslim upper basic school on Saturday held graduation and prize giving ceremony for its grade nine batch at the school ground in Kanfenda, Foni Kansala District. The graduation was attended by community member and its surrounding villages.

Principal of the school Amadou Baldeh said the school was established some nine years ago now with a total enrollment of 150 students. He said the graduates are 27 out of the total student population.

Mr. Baldeh added that the school operates in three categories; nursery, lower basic and upper basic.

Omar N.R Sonko, secretary of Nusrat Jehan Education said the graduation is a remarkable achievement and is a day that should be remembered not only by the out-going students but also by students and teachers that would continue to be part of the school.

Mr. Sonko called on the out-going students not to stop at remembering the school but to also give regards to the school by ensuring that they contribute towards the development of the school when they find themselves in good positions in the future.

Guest speaker Musa Bah said education is the process of acquiring knowledge and skills which will enable one to live dignify and fruitful life. “You grandaunts have been giving an opportunity to work for your future to be someone when you complete your schooling. You are the cream of your society and you should know that you have been giving a responsibility which you should fulfill.”

Ousman Bah, the Area Missionary (IMAM) who spoke on behalf of the Amir of Ahmadiyya Jamat said the role of the Jamat worldwide is to provide education particularly in Africa to help people. “We are very happy for the community of Kanfenda and the surrounding villages.”
