The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in The Gambia has concluded the training programme for children between the ages of 7 and 15, both in the male and female categories. The training programme was held at the Baitus Salaam Mosque in Tallinding in July and August 2010 respectively.
Addressing the girls' training class, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at The Gambia, Maulana Baba F Trawally drew the attention of the girls to the importance of Salat, noting that they should be regular in the observance of their five daily prayers.
"At age 7, you are trained to perform Salat and at age 10 you should be punished for not praying. Let not sporting activities make you forget the performance of Salat. Punctuality in Salat is a sign of a true believer. It protects you from Satan and makes you attain excellence in whatever you do in your worldly endeavours. If you want to be excellent in your academic endeavours, you must be regular with your Salat. Salat is the key to success in this world and the hereafter," he admonished.
At the boys' training class, he emphasized the importance of truthfulness. "Remember that truthfulness is at the root of every virtue. Nothing should make you leave the truth and tell a lie. The Holy
Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw) has warned against telling lies because it leads to disbelief which leads to Hell. Truthfulness lead to good and good leads to Paradise. Lying is a form of associating partners with Allah Almighty. Lying can never protect anyone from any evil. Put your trust in Allah Almighty and tell the truth, He will bestow His blessings and protection on you.”
He narrated that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) was so truthful that even in his young age he was given the title Al-Ameen by the people of Mecca, and that Allah Almighty had revealed to the founder of the Ahmadiyya Jama’at that he would be blessed so much so that kings shall seek blessings from his garments by virtue of his truthfulness.
Similar classes were conducted throughout the country in all the Regions.
The youth arm of the community, the Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya also recently concluded a ten-day training of trainers on Ta'leemul Qur'an (learning of the Qur'an) training prograrnme at Nusrat Senior Secondary School. The programme which was conducted during the holy month of Ramadan between Friday 20th and Tuesday 31st August
2010 attracted 25 participants from across the country.
The aim of the programme was to gather together those who can read the Holy Qur'an to teach them the rules of the correct recitation of the Holy Qur'an for them to impart the knowledge to others.
Speaking on behalf of the Amir, the deputy Amir Fafanding Darbo said that the Holy Qur'an is the peak of excellence. He admonished the youth to make the Qur'an their guiding principle in every walk of life. Nothing should make them indifferent to the Holy Qur'an. In as much as they recite it correctly, they should also act on its beautiful teachings. He quoted the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) as saying that the best of people is the one who learns the Holy Qur'an and teaches it to others.
Earlier in his remarks the Sadr (President) of the Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya said that a life without the Holy Qur'an is not the least meritorious. “The Holy Qur'an, being the Book of nature, perfectly contains all the teachings that man needs. It removes man from every kind of darkness into light and cures spiritual ailments of the heart. Reciting the Holy Qur'an correctly is the responsibility of every Ahmadi youth,” he said.
He emphasized that a house in which the Holy Qur'an is not recited is a dilapidated house, noting that it is the only book on earth today that has the power of spiritually uplifting an individual. He therefore called on the Ahmadi youths to be attached to the Holy Qur'an as the Ahmadiyya Jama'at is known for.
On his part, the Naib Amir and Missionary In-Charge Ustaz Syed Saeedu-ul-Hassan Shah spoke on the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (as)'s love for the Noble Qur'an.
