Pakistan: Gunmen fire on Ahmadiyya mosque, one killed

Sheikhupura, Punjab; Pakistan: Unknown gunmen fired on Ahmadiyya Mosque located in Kahnianwala, Police Station Sadar, fatally wounding one Sajid Ali (60).

Mr. Ali was heading home after performing late evening (Isha) prayers in the mosque when the firing erupted.

The victim breathed his last on the way to hospital, according to an Urdu newspaper, Daily Express.

Some say, attacks on Ahmadiyya Muslims are not random acts of violence.

According to the data maintained by ThePersecution.Org (TPO), anti-Ahmadiyya conferences are held in every city frequently where the Islamist extremist speakers openly make hate-filled slanderous statements and calls for killing of Ahmadi Muslims.


The Punjab government has routinely allowed and sometimes sponsored Anti-Ahmadiyya conferences to take place, TPO maintained records have confirmed.

At one such event held at Chanab Nagar (Rabwah) in recent weeks speakers openly incited boycott of the Ahmadiyya Community and several ‘scholars’ at the conference promoted views that the members of the Ahmadiyya Community are apostates and to be killed for being Wajib ul Qatal (condemned to death), Ahmadiyya Times has learned.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and other world human rights organization have raised awareness about the conferences and rallies that not only go unchecked on the part of concerned authorities in Pakistan but also sometimes carry their permission and full assistance.

It is of note that the town of Rabwah in Pakistan, forcibly name-changed to Chanab Nagar, is a religious home to Ahmadis with over 95 percent population belonging to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The town land was purchased by the Ahmadiyya Community in 1948 after Pakistan came into being when British left India.
