Sir: I am writing in reference to Yasser Latif Hamdani’s article ‘Shame on us’ (Daily Times, December 13, 2010).
Yasser Latif Hamdani has aptly exposed the hypocrisy of Jamaat-e-Islami and its shameless misuse of Islam for its own political agenda. However, the Pakistani nation cannot completely absolve itself of the onus, having allowed these usurpers to infiltrate the ranks of governance.
He uses the word ‘shame’ repetitively to vent his disgust at the pathetic state of affairs. It is extremely frustrating that the Pakistani nation, which has remained blindfolded for too long, is failing to sense the vicious and rapidly approaching onslaught of intolerance that is threatening to consume the country. Needless to say, reiterating Hamdani’s rant appears to be the only plausible manner for venting one’s frustration.
Shame on us for allowing the desecration of the vision of Quaid-i-Azam and permitting bigots to take the reins of the state.
