KARACHI – Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Munawar Hassan on Sunday vowed to protect blasphemy law at all costs.
“Countrywide shutter down strike will be observed on December 31 to protest against the conspiracy to amend or repel the blasphemy law,” he announced this while addressing a protest rally of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi at Tibet Centre on Sunday.
The rally was organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi to protest against the proposed amendment in the blasphemy law, price hike and lawlessness. The participants of rally were chanting slogans against the proposed amendment in blasphemy law and imposition of RGST.
Munawar Hassan urged the people to unite against the rulers who were keen to amend the blasphemy law only to please their American masters. He informed that some elements are hatching the conspiracy to secularise the country, adding, “We would not allow them to succeed in their conspiracies to change the Islamic face of the country.”
He urged the Ulema and religious scholars to forge unity in their ranks on common religious issues especially the protection of the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and to face the conspiracies of the west and the secular lobby.
The JI chief demanded of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to announce the policy of the Government on the floor of the Parliament and assure the masses that the Government would not amend or repel the blasphemy law.
He further asked the Prime Minister to immediately sack the parliamentarians of PPP, who had tabled the bill against blasphemy law. He alleged that President Asif Zardari, PM Yousuf Raza Gilani and Army Chief General Kayani were responsible of US drones attacks in the country.
