Many members from the media and community leaders attended the open house arranged at Baitul Hadee, the new Ahmadiyya Muslim mosque on Division Street in central Harrisburg.

The former Lakeside Lutheran Church site was acquires by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and converted into a mosque.

The event was attended by more than 500 people including Linda Thompson, Mayor of Harrisburg and State Senator Jeff Piccola.

The National Vice President and Missionary Incharge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, Imam Naseem Mahdi traveled to Harrisburg for the open house and delivered the keynote speech.

ABC 27 News files the following report for their website.

Harrisburg mosque opens to everyone

While a mosque might primarily be a Muslim place to worship, those involved with a new mosque in Harrisburg want to include Midstate residents of all faiths. On Sunday, the Harrisburg Mosque on Division Street held an open house. The building was recently acquired from Lakeside Lutheran Church.

In light of recent world events like terror threats and mosque burnings, Harrisburg's Muslim community said that it wants to promote peace between all religions.

"Again and again, we have been giving this message: that this house of God is open to everybody and anybody who wants to worship God," said Naseem Mahdi, the National Vice-President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. "So we are the custodians of this building, but we don't own it."

Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson and State Senator Jeff Piccola attended the open house ceremony.
