PANDEGLANG: Pandeglang Police in Banten guarded the housing area of Ahmadiyah followers in Cisata, Pandeglang, yesterday following rumors of an attack, the local news papers reported.

According to TEMPO Interactive, Police chief Comm. Adi Soeseno said the protection included 60 Banten Mobile Brigade members, 60 Mass Control members, the Banten Provincial Police and 60 Pandeglang Police officers.

“We will continue to monitor the village until it’s really safe,” Adi said yesterday.

Local Ahmadiyah head, Sulaeman, said he was not aware of the rumor, TEMPO Interactive reported.

In a conflicting report to Ahmadiyya Times it was learned that the local Police was forcefully evicting Ahmadiyah families from the area.

"Indonesian police force kicked all the Ahmadi families out of their homes and ordered them to leave the village permanently," the report said.

According to the people present in the area, a TV report showed the 'poor people and children leaving their homes.'

"They are leaving their homes with all their possessions and personal belongings with nowhere to go," the report said.
