BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. -- The Minnesota chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is partnering with Christians for a blood drive on September 11.

"Instead of taking people's lives we should do something that would give life to people," said Lamin Sanyang.

The Ahmadiyya will partner with Mosaic and Brooklyn United Methodist Churches in Brooklyn Park for the event. The idea is to not only do something good in the community but to help people understand that not everyone who practices Islam supports the terror attacks.

"We are not only denouncing it by our words but we're also denouncing it by our actions by honoring those who lost their lives that day," said Sanyang.

The event will be held at the Mosaic and Brooklyn United Methodist Church. They are happy to be a part of bridging the divide between Muslims and Christians in the community.

"Our mandate is to live our neighbor as ourselves. We would want others that are different from us to be in a relationship with us before they passed judgement about us. I think it's only fair and right and a good thing that we create a relationship with those who are different faiths so we can do likewise," said Rev. Rachel Morey with Mosaic.

The event is part of a national effort called Muslims for Life.
