Happy Canada Day! Ironically this day signifies the start of the second half of the year. In addition to appreciating our beloved country, we are compelled to evaluate what have we accomplished in the first half of the year and how to improve or which new endeavours to undertake in the second half.
In words of Lester B. Pearson, “May this land remain united in freedom and justice.” Justice and freedom are key principles of Canada’s society and values we hold near and dear to our hearts. It is impossible to establish peace in society without justice and Canada is a role model for justice.
As an Ahmadi Muslim, I will take a portion of July 1 to remember all those who have sacrificed their lives for this nation and continue to do so in order to ensure our freedom. Canada is a beacon of human values.
As leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community says, “Canada is a vast country, spread far and wide, and in the same way the levels of tolerance and mutual respect displayed by the Canadian people is vast and truly exemplary.”
God keep our land glorious and free, O Canada We Stand on Guard for Thee!
