USA: Detractors should have come to ‘Muhammad, Messenger of Peace’

I wish the commenters on the online thread actually attended the event, rather than make comments like, “If there were just three Muslims like you in the world, I’d consider attending.”

I enjoyed skimming the 60 comments posted in response to my published letter last week. The comments showed me how much interest there might have been for Saturday’s “Muhammad, Messenger of Peace” event at the Newhall Library.

For those wondering, the event featured an entire group of Muslims fighting extremism and terror done in the name of Islam — fighting without a single act of violence.

I wish the commenters on the online thread actually attended the event, rather than make comments like, “If there were just three Muslims like you in the world, I’d consider attending.”

The fact is, there are millions of Muslims working tirelessly to counter extremism, not just a handful.

But you will never hear about these Muslims in the media. If you had come to the event, you would have seen dozens.

Until next time: may peace be with you.
