DISPATCH INTL In the near future, Malmö will have three great mosques. Previously, the municipality has given the green light to the construction of an Islamic cultural center, including large bönesalar, the Danish Road in the residential area Håkanstorp. Last Thursday City Planning decided to grant planning permission for another mosque in the old industrial area close Elisedal Jägersro.
"An entirely uncontroversial decision for us. We have freedom of religion in Sweden and it is not city planning task to evaluate the direction of people's faith," says Carina Svensson, S, city planning chairman.
She believes that as long as you follow the blueprints and have the financial resources required to build, it is no problem to build mosques or indeed churches or synagogues what the municipality is concerned.
"We do not interfere in the actual operations," says Svensson.

"Yes, it will have call to prayer. But I can not say how often, it is not clear," says Carina Svensson.
The only party that had reservations against the decision was the Sweden Democrats, who advanced this as a gender equality issue.
"The City Council speaks often about how important it is to the city's equality plan is followed in all municipal operations. When we find it strange that allow a building with separate entrances for men and women and shared prayer room. The rulers are constantly saying that they want equality, but at the same time supporting the men's a biased attitude towards women which allows polygamy and domestic violence. We have seen in several revealing reportage what message is actually conveyed in many mosques," says Anders Ohlin, who sits in the Board of SD.
He will appeal the decision as a consumer. Otherwise mosque construction has not caused major controversy, unlike the cultural center of the Danish way.
"So far I have only received one critical email, oddly enough. As regards the construction on H Croft I have been bombarded with emails and portrayed in various sites online. Maybe it's because there are not any neighbors who might be upset this time," says Carina Svensson.
At present, it is unclear when the first sod to be sowed, but a building permit is valid for two years, so Islam Ahmadiyya congregation, the applicant, does not need to rush.
FACTS of Ahmadiyya Muslims
Ahmadiyya is a branch of Islam, founded in 1889 by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in Punjab, India. That year, Ahmad declared that he was the Mahdi, or Messiah, as the three major world religions has awaited.
Ahmadiyya Muslims believe that they follow Muhammad's original teaching They condemns all forms of terrorism and violence in the name of Islam - Ahmad advocated an intellectual 'pen jihad "and said that" the sword jihad "has no place in Islam.
It also advocates the separation of state and religion. Currently in around 200 countries worldwide, and conducts extensive missionary activity. The head office is currently in the UK. Ahmadiyya has been represented in Scandinavia since 1956, the first mosque built in 1967 in Copenhagen.
Nasir Mosque in Gothenburg, Sweden's only mosque so far, was inaugurated in 1976.
