GLEN ELLYN – The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Glen Ellyn, along with its sister organization Humanity First, worked to feed and house the homeless July 22.
The two groups partnered with DuPagePads and St. Barnabas Church of Glen Ellyn for the second-year program. Homeless people were invited to stay the night in the church. The Ahmadiyya community provided dinner, breakfast and a sack lunch for everyone who participated.
Sixteen members of the Ahmadiyya community took part in the event, which helped more than 65 homeless people.
The service was part of the community's celebration of Ramadan, during which, in addition to fasting, the group held several events to assist the less fortunate.
