Perspective: Are Muslims only newsworthy when they have killed, not when they get killed? | Dr. Mohammad Ahmad

As a member of Ahmadiyya Muslim community, who strongly believes in ‘love for all and hatred for none,’ I would strongly condemn the killing of three innocent young students.

Chapel Hill massacre in North Carolina, where three young students were shot to death on Tuesday was a horrendous incident.

To say that they were Muslim, the news would have some weight of discrimination, but the truth is they were. However, the question is has media given the news due coverage? The answer would be a no. I would like to know why?

As a member of Ahmadiyya Muslim community, who strongly believes in ‘love for all and hatred for none,’ I would strongly condemn the killing of three innocent young students.

If this was a hate-crime (unfortunately), definitely the responsibility of media increases several fold, not only to highlight this, but discourage the act at mass level. Unfortunately that is missing.

I am sorry but are Muslims only newsworthy when they have killed, not when they get killed?
