It all starts with a little understanding.
Women from different parts of the world with different faiths will get together in Hamilton this weekend to do their part promoting world peace.
Imrana Alamgir said the event Sunday will bring together about 150 women from the Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Islamic and Sikh communities.
The message is simple, said Alamgir, a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association: "There are no bad religions."
The event will feature speakers from each of the six faith groups, plus a chance for questions and answers and a little socializing. Each of the speakers will take about 15 minutes to address the topic "What does your faith say?"
Alamgir said this is the group's fifth annual event and the numbers keep growing every year. All women are encouraged to attend.
"If we have knowledge of other religions, we have respect for them as well," she said.
"We are trying to encourage understanding," she added. "If there is no understanding, there is no peace."
The event will be held Sunday, March 8 at Glendale Secondary School, 145 Rainbow Dr., from 2 p.m.; to 4:30 p.m. Registration begins at 1 p.m. To register go to islamevents.ca.
