25 Years of Clean Up Australia Day: Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Victoria acquired 3rd position in ‘most volunteers registered’ category in all over Australia

On Sunday 1st March 2015 more than 200 volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Victoria participated in historic ‘Clean Up Australia Day’ with great enthusiasm. The Association registered three different clean-up sites in Langwarrin, Dandenong and Warribee South areas. ‘Clean Up Australia Day’ initiative has turned 25 years this year.

The formal proceedings at ‘Bait-ul-Salam’ (House of Peace) Langwarrin started with the recitation from the Holy Quran and its English translation. The event organizers then divided the volunteers into several small groups with each group assigned specific area to clean up.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Victoria (South) acquired 3rd position, nationwide, in ‘most volunteers’ category registered at one site.

Imam Janud of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Victoria said,
"Ahmadi Muslims take part in Australia Clean up day very enthusiastically for two reasons; firstly it is a part of our faith. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) proclaimed 'Cleanliness is half of your faith', therefore, keeping our homeland Australia clean is our responsibility. Secondly, we are proud Australians; we want to do our part in safeguarding Australia for future generations. This is just one of many ways we can do so.”
Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia registered 9 clean-up sites all over Australia where more than 1200 volunteers took part in clean up activity. The Association has been a part of the initiative since its early days and member’s interest is growing every year.
