Over 100 volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Stockleigh Mosque participated in Clean Up Australia Day on the Gold Coast on March 1, 2015.
Australia’s second largest registered group of volunteers collected 29 bags of rubbish from surrounding areas.
Ahmadiyya General Secretary Fahim Ahmed said this year’s clean up had attracted the most volunteers since they first began in 1997.
“We had over 230 registered to help with our Stockleigh clean up this morning and this allows us to cover more ground," he said. “We’re still collecting a large quantity of rubbish, but there is definitely a noticeable decline in litter compared to other years.”
