The streets of Marsden Park will be a lot cleaner, thanks to Clean Up Australia Day leaders, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Association NSW spokesman Naveed Ahmed said there were nine sites, including Marsden Park and Blacktown, across the state on Clean Up Australia Day and the outcome of the day was “fantastic.”
“A total of 26 sites were registered across Australia by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia,” Mr Naveed said.
“In NSW almost 413 people participated in the clean up activity across the nine sites and collected around 140 rubbish bags which weigh approximately 140 kilograms,” Mr Ahmed said.
The event brought together Elders and young people who participated in the clean up activity which ran from 9am to noon.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia topped the cleanup leader board on the Clean Up Australia website.
“Ahmadi Muslims took the first, second and third position in both the maximum number of volunteers and the most funds raised by a group,” Mr Ahmed said.
“We are very proud of our efforts.”
National president Imam Inamul Haq Kauser visited three sites on the day.
