Imam Naseem Mahdi, National Vice President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA
In light of the recent bombing attempt in New York City’s Times Square, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is organizing a youth rally in Rochester Hills today.
“A key point we’re starting to see in the media is the minority view ... of the fanatics,” said Mujeeb Ijaz, who was handling public relations for the event.
The rally will begin at 1 p.m. at Masjid Mahmood mosque, 1730 West Auburn Road.
The organization wants to try to activate the moderate voice for the Islam community.
Naseem Mahdi, vice president of the organization, will be speaking at the rally. Mahdi has been interviewed on various networks, such as Fox News and NBC, promoting AMC’s views.
The reformist organization was founded in 1889 and continues to work on spreading the message of Islam’s true and essential teachings, which includes goals to “condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice and peace.”

The organization also has posted a response to the Times Square terrorist on YouTube.
Rochester Hills is home to one of the 63 chapters of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, all of which will be hosting rallies in their respective locations. The Rochester rally is expected to have 100 attendees.
