Opinion: Pakistan leaders aiding, comforting terrorists

U.S. tax payers are being burdened for billions of dollars every year to assist the Pakistani government. And how are they spending it? Pakistani federal government is in bed with all extremist mullahs. Leaders from Punjab government have openly supported Taliban elements.

The government of Pakistan is criminally involved in the growth and spread of terrorism in their country and beyond. Since 1974, they have enacted laws to promote religious hatred and persecution of minorities and enforcement of the majority religion in their country, without regard to basic human rights of minority groups. Extremist Mullahs all over Pakistan have been inciting majority Muslims to kill Ahmadis for years. Scores of Ahmadis have been murdered and imprisoned in Pakistan. Every other day, Mullahs openly hold rallies against minorities with full government support.

Last Friday, terrorists attacked the mosques of minority Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Lahore, Pakistan. They killed over 100 [update: 86 confirmed dead] unarmed worshippers and injured another 100.
I lost many friends in this massacre and watched the coverage in horror and disbelief. Government completely failed to respond effectively to these attacks and could not save a single life. Several injured bled to death waiting for the help that arrived hours later. Days later, government of Pakistan refuses to admit their criminal negligence.

U.S. tax payers are being burdened for billions of dollars every year to assist the Pakistani government. And how are they spending it? Pakistani federal government is in bed with all extremist mullahs. Leaders from Punjab government have openly supported Taliban elements.

If US are looking to eradicate the menace of terrorism, it needs to start with the government of Pakistan first. US need to stop financing Pakistan until they get rid of all draconian and discriminatory laws against minorities. After that, the Pakistani government needs to close down all Madrassahs and bring the students into mainstream schools. If a Madrassah refuses to close, it should be a valid target for aerial or drone attacks. If we don't try to eradicate these root causes, we will continue to fight this battle.
