More than 15,000 people are expected to attend the 34th annual Conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Canada, opening today at the International Centre in Malton.

The three-day conference will feature presentations that "highlight Islamic teachings of peace, tolerance and non-violence as well as its requirement for Canadian Muslims to demonstrate their love and loyalty to their adopted homeland."

It concludes Sunday.

Speakers will also will mark the deaths of 86 Ahmadi Muslims who were killed two months ago in Lahore, Pakistan when armed men stormed two mosques and opened fire on the worshippers gathered there.
