Milton’s Muslim community will hold an interfaith symposium and a discussion about the importance of modern religion next week.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will hold the event Wednesday with four speakers taking to the podium to ask, “Do we need religion in today’s society?”

Speakers, who will attend the 7 p.m. event at the Milton Sports Centre, will represent views from Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Humanism.

The event, which will be held in the centre’s banquet room, at 605 Santa Maria Blvd., will also be attended by many local town councillors and the chief of police.

A spokesman from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said: “We are committed to providing opportunities to broaden and deepen understanding of it and the true teaching of the religion of Islam as well as to contributing to Canada’s multicultural mosaic.”
