As an American-Muslim and a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I am especially appreciative for their services. Islam teaches me to be loyal to my country and part of that loyalty is respecting and appreciating the services of our veterans.

Editor, the Record:
With Veterans Day here, I reflect on my experiences with our veterans. I spent one year working at a Veterans Administration hospital as a surgical resident. During that year, I gained a true appreciation for those who took the extraordinary step to serve our country. Putting their country before their family, friends, and themselves, they were a model of sacrifice, something that makes our country great.
As an American-Muslim and a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I am especially appreciative for their services. Islam teaches me to be loyal to my country and part of that loyalty is respecting and appreciating the services of our veterans. So this Veterans Day, I want to say that I am truly thankful to the brave men and women who defend our freedom.
