USA: 9/11 and the Trail of Lights | Letters

Terry Jones' threats to burn the Quran have made me very thankful. But I say this because Jones' agenda, as bigoted and extreme as it may have been, revealed that untold numbers of Americans did not approve of his behavior.

As a follower of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and an Ahmadi Muslim American, it might be surprising to read that the Rev. Terry Jones' threats to burn the Quran have made me very thankful. But I say this because Jones' agenda, as bigoted and extreme as it may have been, revealed that untold numbers of Americans did not approve of his behavior.

Despite the divide we sometimes see between Muslims and Americans, Americans of all and no faiths spoke against Jones' plans. The ugliness of Jones' plans brought out the very best in America, and for this I must express my sincerest thanks.
