Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) chief Habib Riziq rejected a suggestion that Ahmadiyah should be declared a new religion, saying it would mean legalizing its existence and permitting its “misleading” teachings.

“There is no other solution to deal with this Ahmadiyah case but by dissolving it,” he said while delivering a sermon at Al Markaz Al Islami Jenderal Muhammad Jusuf Mosque in Makassar on Friday evening.

“Those who propose that Ahmadiyah be declared as a new religion don’t understand the problem. By making it a new religion, they’ll be legalizing Ahmadiyah’s misleading teachings. To me there’s only dissolving Ahmadiyah in Indonesia. And we’re ready to educate the followers,” he said.
