Indonesia: Nat’l Police questions officers on Ahmadiyah incident

The National Police is questioning a number of officers regarding Sunday's attack on Ahmadiyah followers in Cikeusik village, Pandeglang Regency, in Banten Province.

Those questioned include Banten Police chief Brig. Gen. Agus Kusnadi, Pandeglang Police chief Adj.Sr.Comr. Alex Fauzi Rasyad, Cikeusik Police chief Adj. Comr. M Supur, as well as a number of officers who were in charge when the incident happened.

The attack, which was conducted by hundreds toward Ahmadis who were gathering at their local leader’s house, left three dead and five injured.


Kompas.com said that the questioning, which is under the authority of Internal Affairs chief Comr. Gen. Nanan Sukarna, revolved around whether security measures during that incident had been carried out accordance with procedures.

Nanan also questioned previously Pandeglang Deputy Police chief Comr. Mustika Jaman, and Head of Samapta (Police Reserves) unit Comr. Sahpudin in Pandeglang.

“If [the measures taken] weren’t according to procedures, we will sanction [the officers],” he said
