ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani assured Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday that the government does not intend on amending the blasphemy law.
The prime minister talked to the JUI-F chief on the telephone, and told him that any legislation regarding the blasphemy law would be made after proper consultation with all national leaders.
However, Fazlur Rehman said the religious parties would continue their movement till the government brings in some concrete decision regarding the blasphemy law.
At the same time, he assured Gilani that a meeting of religious leaders would be called within the next 24 hours and a joint decision would then be taken.
