The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Canada will attempt to create the world’s largest human-made smiley face Saturday at Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area in Whitchurch-Stouffville.

The not-for-profit religious organization condemns war and promotes peace.

“What better way to promote peace than to make a smiley face,” said Rizwan Rabbani, event co-ordinator and director of the association.

The previous Guinness World Record attempt for a human-made smiley face was made by New Jersey’s Mahwah Police Department June 30. It had 2,226 people. Guinness officials are still processing the record-breaking attempt.

Aurora’s Shay Pileggi also attempted to create the world’s largest happy face last month at Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada fundraiser.

This weekend’s record-breaking smiley-face attempt is part of the Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya of Canada’s annual convention and not open to the public.
