Lagos – A Muslim cleric, Sumonu Apampa , of the Ahmadiyya Mission, Ebute Metta, on Sunday in Lagos advised Muslims to embrace peace and unity to enhance Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Apampa, who gave the advice at the Eid-el-Kabir prayer, urged the congregation to abandon sinful acts and emulate the good behaviour of Prophet Ibrahim.
“Muslims should always assist the needy and should always be at peace with their neighbours.’’
He also urged Muslims to shun sinful behaviour and celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir peacefully.
Some other clerics said in separate interviews after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers, underscored the need for continued prayers for unity in the country.
Hakeem Abina urged both Christians and Muslims to continue to pray for peace and progress in Nigeria.
“I believe Nigeria will be greater with constant prayers and the citizens will be the better for it.’’
Kareem Osho said that Nigeria would not disintegrate with constant prayer and fasting.
Alhaja Peju Musari described the yearly festival as a demonstration of appreciation to Allah for His mercies and love to Muslims in the country.
