Indonesia: Sukabumi Ahmadiyah on Alert

“We were instructed to guard and maintain our property and the safety of Ahmadiyah,” Yusuf Awwab, the mosque’s caretaker and religious leader, said in Sukabumi yesterday.

TEMPO Interactive, SUKABUMI: The Bilal Mosque, which belongs to Ahmadiyah followers in Sukabumi, has come under threat from the surrounding community.

“We were instructed to guard and maintain our property and the safety of Ahmadiyah,” Yusuf Awwab, the mosque’s caretaker and religious leader, said in Sukabumi yesterday.

Sukabumi Police is on alert.

“We don’t want to take the risk. The potential is there and anything could happen," Sukabumi Police chief, Comm. Witnu Urip Laksana, said yesterday.

"We will continue to monitor and respond to all information. This is an initial step to a positive situation,” Policed chief further added.
