New Zealand: Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at

The community has a wide ethnic mix of immigrant populations mainly from Fiji, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ghana and a growing number of second and third generation Kiwis as well as local Maori and Europeans.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at is an incorporated society and registered charitable trust dedicated to providing assistance to the moral, spiritual and academic development of New Zealanders.

 The National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in New Zealand is Mohammed Iqbal JP.

The community has over 300 members, with a wide ethnic mix of immigrant populations mainly from Fiji, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ghana and a growing number of second and third generation Kiwis as well as local Maori and Europeans.


Projects 2012

Annual Convention

This year the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at New Zealand will hold its 23rd Annual Convention also known as Jalsa Salana. The event will extend over two days but a special session is held for the wider community so that they can also learn about the finer points of Islam and Ahmadiyyat. The first event of this type was held in 1891 by the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at. Since then the annual convention is held world-wide.

Date    :           Saturday, 28 January
Time   :           11am ([prorgamme commences 11.30am, lunch served at 1.15pm).
Venue :           20 Dalgety Drive, Manukau Central 2104, Manukau.


Silver Jubilee Celebration  ( 1987-2012)

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year starting from 20 May.

A long list of events is planned during this year in conjunction with this landmark in our history.  Many of these are internal activities but events where external guests will be invited for the celebrations include:


  • Silver Jubilee Celebrations on 24November, 2012.
  • Peace Conference on 29September, 2012.
  • Inauguration of the first new Mosque being built at 20 Dalgety Drive in Manukau City on Friday, 23 November, 2012.
  • Launching Ceremony of the translation of the full Holy Quran in Te Reo on 27 November, 2012.
