Indonesia: Mores Suspects Declared over Ahmadiyah Mosque Vandalism

The Cianjur Precinct Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Agus Tri Heriyanto said that, based on questioning, the 20 people who lived around the location of the incident committed the vandalism on Nurhidayah Mosque. However, they are not arrested. “We haven’t conducted any arrest. We only require them to report themselves and convince us that they have no flight risk.”

TEMPO Interactive, Cianjur, West Java:The Cianjur Precinct has declared 20 suspects in the vandalism case which damaged Nurhidayah Mosque belonging to Ahmadiyah group on Friday. The suspects are residents of Cisaar Village in Cianjur Regency, West Java.

The Cianjur Precinct Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Agus Tri Heriyanto said that, based on questioning, the 20 people who lived around the location of the incident committed the vandalism on Nurhidayah Mosque. However, they are not arrested. “We haven’t conducted any arrest. We only require them to report themselves and convince us that they have no flight risk,” said Agus on Tuesday.

One day before the news was reported, the police declared 15 suspects. According to Agus, almost 100 residents were questioned which leads to possibly higher number of suspect. “The vandalism stemmed from the residents’ irritation of the Ahmadiyah congregation’s activities in the mosque. They have been warned many times,” Agus went on.
