Canada: Khalifa of Islam presides over 36th Ahmadiyya Annual Convention

The 36th Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community commenced on Friday at the International Centre  in Mississauga, Ont, Canada.

The opening of the event was marked with the Flag Hoisting ceremony by Khalifa of Islam, Hadhrat (His Holiness), Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide spiritual head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community visiting from London.

Thousands of Ahmadi Muslims from all over Canada and from across the southern border, enjoyed the spritiual speeches today presented by various scholars including a speech on the topic of 'Striving in the way of Allah' by Lal Khan Malik the National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Canada.

Hadhart Ahmad led the evening prayers at the Bai`tul Islam Mosque in Maple, Ontario.

The Bai`tul Islam Mosque and the surrounding Peace Village have are beautifully decorated welcoming the community's spiritual leader who presided over a similar Annual Convention in the United States during the previous weekend.

In addition to the speeches the the convention location has organized book stalls, pictorial exhibitions and a general bazaar .

The convention proceedings were broadcast live via Muslim Television Ahmadiyya and over the Internet.
