Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continues tour of North America
On 3rd July 2012, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Fifth Khalifa, arrived in Canada after a successful tour of the United States.
His Holiness travelled to Canada by road from the United States and crossed into Canada at 5pm local time via the Whirlpool Bridge to Canada.
As His Holiness had been granted status of ‘State Guest’ by the Government of Canada, he was received at the border by the Parliamentary Secretary for Citizenship and Immigration, Rick Dykstra MP, who welcomed His Holiness on behalf of the Prime Minister of Canada.
Thereafter His Holiness travelled by road to Peace Village in the city of Vaughan, whilst being escorted by a Protocol Vehicle provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
His Holiness arrived at the Baitul Islam Mosque at 7.45pm and was greeted by over 6,000 Ahmadi Muslims who were all overjoyed to see their spiritual leader. Men, women and children raised Islamic slogans expressing their joy, whilst many of the homes in Peace Village were decorated with lights.
Also present at Baitul Islam to welcome His Holiness were Chungsen Leung MP, who was sent as a representative of the Government of Canada and senior officers of York Regional Police.
Shortly after arrival, His Holiness also met individually with Ahmadi Muslims from the United States who had accompanied him throughout his tour of America, as they handed over their duties to the local Canadian Ahmadi Muslim team.
