A TOTAL of 22 families living at Tavakubu settlement in Lautoka were visited by an international group bearing supplies for their families after their homes were completely destroyed during Tropical Cyclone Evan.

The families who have struggled to get supplies to rebuild their homes were given food rations from Humanity First Australia on Saturday.

One of the first people visited by the group, Ilisapeci Dreu said the help from the group was timely.

"We can't thank them enough for the help," Ms Dreu said.

Humanity First Australia co-ordinator Mohammed Shah said the group would be distributing food rations to the worst affected families in Lautoka.

"We've been here a couple of days and we've seen lots of people still in need of help. We are just doing what we can and giving people basic supplies to get them through," Mr Shah said.

"We have organisations in a lot of countries around the world and our work mainly focuses on giving relief supplies to individuals or families that were affected in natural disasters."
