Hundreds of Ahmadi Muslims gather in Manukau tomorrow for their 24th annual religious convention.

This year's theme is Muhammad - Peace Be Upon Him, giving prominence to the Holy Prophet of Islam's teachings of universality, peace and harmony.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community national president Mohammad Iqbal says understanding the Prophet's true message is critical to removing "the stigma of violence and aggression associated nowadays with Islam because of actions of a minority of fanatics".

Defending Muhammad's honour is a lifelong task for all true Muslims, he says.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is an international religious organisation and its annual convention is celebrated in countries all over the world including Australia, England, Germany, Canada and the United States.

Tomorrow's convention will start at 11am at 20 Dalgety Dr in Wiri. It is open to the public with refreshments and lunch.
