Every day we wake up to threats by one nation or another. It seems like countries are trying to boast their military advancements. If countries are truly afraid of mutually assured destruction, why even bring up the concept to attack one another? Is it necessary to contribute toward unrest in our society?
Recently, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, presided over a peace symposium in the United Kingdom where he said that a world war is inevitable unless true justice prevails. This reminds me of the fact that many countries have internal conflicts they are finding difficult to resolve yet they somehow muster enough strength to openly threaten another nation. Some of these nations repeatedly fail to pay dues of their own citizens nor do they have the citizen’s well-being in mind.
Ahmad offered a simple solution: open lines of communication and increase dialogue among nations. He said: “If we want true peace and if we want to save the world from destruction then we must act with justice, integrity and be ever faithful to the truth.”
As an Ahmadi Muslim, I can only pray the world pays heeds this advice and works toward peace in a united manner.
