Young Muslims joined local residents last week to help clean up an alleyway plagued by littering and fly tipping.
Members of the Ahmaddiya Youth Muslim Association (AMYA), based in Morden, joined the Crusoe Road Plus (CRP) action group in Mitcham to help tidy up the area and plant edible hedgerows.
A mixture of hazel, elder, blackthorn, dog rose and crab apples were planted which had been donated by the Woodland Trust.
Caroline Cooper-Marbiah, founder of the CRP action group, thanked the young volunteers for helping to make their road "cleaner and greener".
The AMYA national tree planting campaign was launched in 2011 and the group have since planted tens of thousands of trees across the UK.
AMYA is the oldest UK Muslim youth association in the UK with more than 100 centres nationwide but are based in Morden at Western Europe’s largest Mosque.
