The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at, Liberia has ended a three-day convention held with the N.J. Ahmadiyya Elementary School in Po-River, Brewerville, Liberia.
According to the head of Mission in Liberia, Mr. Maulvi Naveed Ahmad Aadill Ameer, the convention brought delegates from seven counties of the fifteen in Liberia including Montserrado, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, Bong, Bomi, Margibi and Nimba.
Mr. Aadill Ameer said that the purpose of the convention was to enable every sincere individual to personally experience religious benefits which will enhance their knowledge and blessing by Allah.
The convention congregational meeting was intended to promote mutual introduction among all brothers which will help strengthen the fraternal ties with the community, he further stated.
In his concluding statement, Aadill Ameer called on the delegates to take back home what they saw, learnt and achieved from the convention.
“I urge you all to go home in peace, and please take with you what you have seen with your own eyes and explain to those you left behind that Ahmadiyya is not as what people think that it is. Tell them that Ahmadiyya is a Muslim religion,” he stated.
In another development, the Asst. Minister for Basic & Secondary Education Mrs. Felicia Doe Somah congratulated the Ahmadiyya Muslims for all what they continue to do to support the people of Liberia through good healthcare and quality education.
Madam Somah further stated that Ahmadiyya is a clear example of what religious groups are supposed to do to help the less fortunate in the society by showing them love and care.
The Assistant Minister of Education explained that whether you are a Christian or Muslim, we all need to work together for the maintenance of the peace we enjoy now.
Madam Somah said Christianity taught her that no man can love God and hate his fellow men, stating that we should practice religious tolerance and learn how to demonstrate those good values taught us by our religions.
In conclusion she said that she does not support the petition presented to the National Legislature by some groups of Christians to return Liberia to a 'Christian State'.
