An Ahmadiyya prayers centre in Gulshan-e Ravi, Lahore, is attacked by some 200 Islamist clerics, it has been reported.

Gulshan-e Ravi is an area in Lahore situated at the corner of the city near the Ravi River.

According to the social media reports a few Ahmadis were gathered for worship at the prayer center when a gang of Islamist thugs broke into the place and threatened the lives and property of the Ahmadis.

Witnesses say the police was called in to protect the Ahmadis, however, according to the Ahmadiyya spokesperson, Saleem ud Din, police arrested the Ahamdis for failing to honor the mob’s demands of ceasing the worship activity.

No action has been taken against the intruders who broke into the Ahmadis private property, it was further asserted.

Ahmadiyya spokesperson repeated that the Islamists are given protection by the state in vandalizing of the private property and harassment of the religious minorities.

“The double standard of administration under the leadership of our dear caretaker chief minister @NajamSethi continues as it was in past,” wrote Saleem ud Din  in his social media post.

According to many media reports, the Islamist mob is backed by the brother of Tahir Ashrafi, chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council.

Reportedly, Ashrafi and his brother are at the forefront of the current wave of witch-hunt against Ahmadis in Lahore and Ashrafi brother is the routine complainant in many cases registered against the Ahmadis in Lahore, including the recently reported case against Ahmadiyya publication, Al-Fzal.

According to the Asian Human Rights Commission of Pakistan mulla Hasan Muawiya is known to have fabricated complaints against the Ahmadis.

Tahir Ashrafi, usually touted as a ‘moderate’ mullah is the darling of a select group of liberals in Pakistan.

Cleric's well-wishers have claimed that Ashrafi is 'a brave' moderate, "but ... a sinister campaign against him was launched to delegitimize him."

Ashrafi gained notoriety as a moderate when he issued a statement condemning the murder of Salmaan Taseer, the governor of the Punjab, Pakistan who was shot to death for defending a christian women on death row.

Some say Ashrafi has a highly selective sense of 'moderation,' but "liberals were only happy to have found a mullah they could stand in their corner to hang their hats on."

“This is the real face of such moderate voices in Pakistan who endorse & openly condone hatred, vandalism & threats to innocent Ahmadis,” wrote Saleem ud Din.

Saleem ud Din demanded that Caretaker CM Najam Sethi should look into the matter and provide adequate protection for Ahamdis.

“We expect better from you, because we know you are not like the rest; so please do something & stop this witch hunt,” Saleem ud Din asked Caretaker CM Najam Sethi. “We know you are very busy but as per your own statement providing security is your responsibility; so is this what is provided?”

“We understand you are very busy & don't have time to meet a community of peaceful citizens but you could provide security,” Saleem ud Din said.

  6. It was really a heartbreaking news to read. No doubt these Mullahs are a true embodiment of the Quranic verse that states:" They have hearts wherewith they understand not and they have eyes wherewith they see not and they have ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle; nay they are even more astray. They are indeed altogether heedless.
Hopefully the present CM won't close his ears to this heartbreaking and shameful act done by some arrogants.

  9. I am just wondering what is Najam Sethi’s response on this clear travesty of justice against the Ahmadiyya community in his city of Lahore. Ahmadis are not even allowed to pray in their own houses and places of worship. Instead of removing the anarchist crowd and protect Ahmadis, they were themselves being arrested. As an Ahmadi just let me tell these Mullahs that we are not afraid of your kind. We are resourceful, disciplined and highly organised community with nearly 100% literacy amongst our members in Pakistan. We stick to our motto “Love for all hatred for none” and will never work against Pakistan and will never react with force or violence, although we practice obedience and discipline of the highest order one can imagine. Our Imams have always promoted peace in the name of Islam taught to us. We know no other Islam. We are the creators of Pakistan alongside Jinnah and supported him by all means possible during the struggle of Pakistan movement. We are the ones who took note of Kashmiri plight and offered help in 1920s and 1930s duly recognised by Allama Iqbal. Your kith and kin Mullahs were always against Pakistan in 1930s and 1940s favouring unified India, and unfortunately till this day they are working against Pakistan’s creation by all such cruel actions harming this great Muslim potential of the world wasted so far. 10. What I don't get is how these Mullahs are preaching Islam. They say they believe they are the best preachers and practitioners of Islam and then they do this? Is this their Islam?
Growing up, I believed Pakistan had to be one of the greatest countries of the world. Yes, it had its issues but then every country does. But living as an Ahmadi, I've seen so many killings, so many torturings, and kidnappings and what not, being done to Ahmadis. And the Mullahs say its in the name of religion. WHAT is in the name of religion? Killing people? Murdering them? Bloodlust is NOT in the name of religion. I might not be a scholar but that even a 5-year old kid knows.
Now I am noone to put blames on anyone, but at this point, I say to these Mullahs - no matter how many Ahmadis you kill, not even one will renounce their religion and come to you. You may kill us all but our blood will be on you. And Allah is ever-Watching. And He knows all that you do and all that you say. So before you go along killing all of us, remember that the Day of Judgement is not too far away. Astagfirullah parhain aur apnay gunahoun ki maafi maangain. Allah aap ko hidayat day. Ameen.
