"It talks about how the caricatures and videos of the holy prophet Muhammad and his portrayal, well, it's quite offensive to Muslims, and there isn't much being done about it."

Want to get the lowdown on the prophet Muhammad and the Muslim religion?

The local Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Windsor is bringing the stage presentation Muhammad - The Astonishing Story of the Prophet to Windsor's Caboto Club on Sunday at 4 p.m. "Essentially, we're just trying to raise awareness in a number of communities, we've done this in a number of cities, and the biggest thing is education because of the portrayal in the media," said organizer Fez Khalil.

"It talks about how the caricatures and videos of the holy prophet Muhammad and his portrayal, well, it's quite offensive to Muslims, and there isn't much being done about it."

The presentation, which is open to the public, will feature monologues from Muslims explaining Muhammad's life and teachings, as well as songs performed by children's choirs. Pictorial depictions of Muhammad are prohibited in the religion, but a number of cartoons of him have been published in western publications in recent years.

The performance has been staged in a number of other Canadian cities, and the Windsor performance will see a number of people involved with the Toronto production involved here.

A free dinner will be served, but pre-registration is required online at theprophet.ca or by calling 519-819-4096.
